Merlin Anti-Slip has it's manufacturing facility based in Ashburton, New Zealand.  It is from here that we manufacture our Anti-Slip Products and Chemicals, and assemble our range of Photo-Luminescent Step Nosings and Way-Finding Systems.

Kevin, a Director of Merlin Anti slip, was employed as a Special Project Development Engineer in the Petrochemical Industry. Kevin observed that when personnel came into contact with surfaces that weren’t dry and flat, they tended to shuffle while walking on these areas or at the very least walked with a feeling of unease over these surfaces.

Working on offshore platforms, part of Kevin’s brief was to identify and make recommendations to eliminate issues of safety in the workplace, predominately underfoot safety. Slipping and tripping was recognised as one the of the main issues confronting staff on platforms, steps, and stairs as well as deck areas that were exposed to the elements.

After understanding and implementing products and systems that enhanced worker safety, Kevin then began to think more in depth in relation to underfoot safety and this is where the company Merlin Anti Slip was incubated and developed.

The Merlin business commenced a little over 25 years ago with the manufacture of safety yellow industrial step nosing’s.  As customers requested anti-slip products for a range of applications, the company then developed anti-slip matting and anti-slip chemicals. All anti-slip surfaces have a unique maintenance methodology, and this led to the development of chemicals and cleaning solutions to meet this need.

After exhaustive testing and trials, a Roading-Grade Anti-Slip solution was also created as well as solutions for Commercial and Residential Anti-Slip concerns. 

Our main aim as a company

Merlin is a company that prides itself on delivering a product that offers a quality long-term solution for a very cost-effective price. Its products are not a quick fix solution rather these products have been field tested and subjected to the most harsh and abrasive environments to ensure longevity and reliability in the workplace, commercial warehousing and offices right through to the residential end of the market.
